Philadelphia is best known as the location of Love Park, a downtown plaza that, like San Francisco’s Embarcadero, served as an incubator for new tricks. While the spot was first associated with skaters like Ricky Oyola, Matt Reason, and Sergei Trudnowski, by the late ‘90s, names like Josh Kalis, Brian Wenning, and Stevie Williams—who skated through both eras—were synonymous with its stairs and ledges. City Hall and the Municipal Building, both nearby, were similarly popular; the former has since been remodeled, though the latter, along with other spots, continues to be ridden by younger locals, including Real and Nike SB pro Ishod Wair.
